Uncommon travelogue from L. Frank Baum, who wished to retain his anonymity after the success of the Oz works. Second printing, with the copyright dated 1907 and the title page bearing 1908. Illustrated with several excellent colored plates from Wightman, and a lovely illustration pasted onto the front cover. Cocked binding, with edge wear. Previous owner’s name on the pastedown. A quite scarce copy, with a fine interior.
The Last Egyptian: A Romance of the Nile is a novel for adult readers, written by L. Frank Baum and published anonymously on 1 May 1908. It was the third and last of the novels Baum wrote for mature readers; it followed The Fate of a Crown (1905) and Daughters of Destiny (1906). It is a rare Baum book not published by his standard firm, Reilly & Britton.
