Sparrow, Walter Shaw. London: John Lane the Bodley Head, 1922. 1st edition. 27 colored plates and 76 b/w plates. Decorated cloth. 249 pp. 4to. Good+.
A magnificent, finely bound collection of nearly 100 beautiful plates from the history of British sporting art. Gilt horse scenes to front and spine, with black borders and gold titling; rough-cut fore-edge and tails. Binding is cracked along the grooves; the spine is frayed and chipped, with tips likewise frayed. Small tears to the shelfback.
